Vaughn Warren

Artist Biography

Vaughn Warren is a carver, painter and graphic artist who lives in Kamloops, BC Canada.

Vaughn has been working in the Arts and Culture field for over 20 years. After training in Vancouver, BC as a mural painter, graphic artist and working in the film industry, Vaughn returned to Kamloops to focus on his painting and carving. While in Kamloops, Vaughn also worked for the Kamloops Art Gallery as a Preparator and Exhibition Designer — the highlight of which was spending 2 months in Venice, Italy working as an installer with Rebecca Belmore’s team at the 2005 Venice Biennalle.

Vaughn’s recent work has focused on massive carvings using wood reclaimed from the Mountain Pine Beetle-killed wood in the Thompson Valley, such as the Beaver, Raven and Frog poles installed at Logan Lake in the summer of 2008.

Vaughn’s key works in Kamloops include the City’s Tournament Capital logo, the Riverpole sculpture at the corner of Columbia and Summit, and the massive Kamloops logo carving in the foyer of the Tournament Capital Centre building.
